How many of you believe in karma?  How about those who believe in the phrase “What goes around, comes around”?  Now how many of you believe in cause-and-effect?  Now what would you say if people really do retaliate against the three things that I mention, it sounds silly but it happens.  Sometimes the lesson that they have learned after something happens isn’t enough, especially if they don’t feel like it’s justified in their benefit.  Some people will let the cycle of destruction continue until they get their way, the problem with that is that sometimes the other party doesn’t want to keep going.  There’s an old saying “touch me then I touch you back”, and that should be the end of it right? Wrong.  Instead you want to go to war because you were attacked, that’s your ego overshadowing your common sense.

The fight between your ego and your common sense is never one that comes out where either one will be victorious, I say that because their version of justice doesn’t define what the other side is feeling.  Your ego is always going to be the first to respond while your common sense kicks in a little later using a more logical approach as a response, which one will make you look better at the end?  Your ego is the one to tell you that your emotions matter more than anybody else right now while your common sense will take in the consideration of others, which one will make you feel good at the end?  Your ego is the one to tell your pride is your important than anything else while your common sense is going to ask you to put your pride to the side (as my father used to say) to make sure nobody else is hurt in the process.  Who is more important to you at the end?  You or them?

“If I hit you and you hit me and I hit you back and you hit me back and go on, you see, that goes on ad infinitum. It just never ends. Somewhere somebody must have a little sense, and that's the strong person.” - MLK
